Using our 3D Printing Service

Step 1: Complete our 3D Printing Tutorial + Quiz

Step 2: Create or find your 3D file(s)

Step 3: Submit your .stl file(s) to be be printed 

Step 4: The IDEA Studio will email you confirming approval of your design and estimated cost of your print

Step 5: We will schedule your print time and print your design

Step 6: Upon completion, you will be notified via email that your object is ready to be picked up at the User Services desk




We charge .05 cents per gram for your final design. Minimum charge of $.50 cents.

After you submit your design, we will email your approval and an estimated cost for your project.


The IDEA Studio uses PLA plastic filament for our printing. PLA(PolyLactic Acid) is a biodegradable plastic. It is made from renewable raw materials such as cornstarch or sugarcane, so you might notice the sweet smell while printing.
