UM-Dearborn Open Educational Resources (OER)

A campus initiative striving to lower student course material costs through the implementation of open educational resources.

UM-Dearborn's OER Initiative

The Mardigian Library, in collaboration with the HUB for Teaching and Learning Resources (HUB), created an Open Educational Resources (OER) Task Force as part of an initiative to introduce and promote the use of OER at the University of Michigan-Dearborn to enrich the student learning experience and reduce the cost of course materials for students.

For this initiative, OER is defined as any open resource that can be freely or easily made available to students as an alternative to textbooks. We also endorse the use of licensed content from the library as this material is at no cost to the registered student; primary sources and other published materials made available online via museums, archives, scholarly organizations; materials created and shared by faculty at other colleges; and materials created by the faculty member themselves.
