Peer Reviewed Articles

For this class, you will need to identify and read peer reviewed articles for your literature review.

The video below explains what it means for an article to be peer reviewed:

Limiting to Peer Reviewed Search Results

Mardigian Search:

Mardigian Search, and many other databases, allow you to narrow your search results to only include peer reviewed articles. Within your Mardigian Search results page, select "peer reviewed" from the sidebar navigation:

Library Databases:

When you are in a library database, look for a box to check that says “peer reviewed journals” or “scholarly articles” or “academic articles”. This is usually found directly beneath the main search box.

Tip: Some databases allow you to limit your search to "Publication Type" or "Document Type".  You would select "Academic Journal" or "Peer reviewed journal", etc.

Check if a Journal is Peer Reviewed

If you are unsure whether an article is peer reviewed, use the Ulrichsweb Global Serials Directory database. Simply search the name of the journal your article was published in and look for the "refereed" symbol:

This symbol indicates that articles published in that journal have been peer reviewed.
