Writing Your Annotation

An Annotated Bibliography is a list of citations to articles and other sources. For this assignment, you will write one citation in APA Style for your article with the annotation below it.

An annotation is a brief descriptive and evaluative paragraph about your article. Your annotations should also include the following three sections and answer their corresponding questions:

  • How is this article relevant to southeast Michigan?
  • Analyze methodology and community participation
    • Is the article treating the community as partners or subjects?
    • Is it Community Based Participatory Research (CBPR), also known as Community Based Research (CBR)? 
  • Reflection
    • What questions does this article raise for you?
    • How does this article connect to your Community Engagement experience?
    • How does it connect to course material? 
    • How does this challenge and/or support your perception of southeast Michigan?
