Finding newspapers articles for the HIST 300 assignment
You can access full-text of many major newspapers with several of library databases found on our library (Mardigian Library) website. To access our the library resources from off-campus, please go to the Off-campus access tab on this guide for instructions.
Select library newspaper/general databases
Proquest U.S. Global Newsstream - Search the most recent US news content, as well as archives which stretch back into the 1980s featuring newspapers, newswires, blogs, and news sites in full-text format. ProQuest US Newsstream also offers access to local and regional newspapers, and is cross-searchable on the ProQuest platform.
Proquest Historical Newspapers - Full-text searchable access to the complete backfiles of ProQuest's Historical Newspapers collection. Includes The Detroit Free Press Historical newspaper.
Access World News - Newspaper articles, magazine articles, broadcast transcripts, newswire stories, news videos, and journalist-written blogs from more than 600 U.S. and over 700 international sources. Search for a topic within the publications of a particular country or region. Includes The Detroit News Current and Historical Newspaper
Mardigian Search - Mardigian Search will find most of the library's resources, all in one search. Simply enter a topic term in the search box. If you get many results, try refining the search. Look to the left of the results screen, where you can refine your search by Content type, publication year, additional subject terms, etc. There is also an Advanced Search, where you refine you search in advance (e.g. author, topic, date of publication, subject terms).
