I found a book. How do I find more?

  • Check the book's catalog record for subject(s) - the catalog record shows one or more subjects for the book. Clicking on the links there should show a list of other, related titles.
  • Look through the book's references - you should be able to find citations to older, helpful books there.
  • Search for the author(s) - the author may have published more books in the field, so search the library catalog for the author(s).

  • Search MeLCat
The Michigan Electronic Library searches for materials from approximately 400 libraries throughout Michigan. The collections from Wayne State, Eastern Michigan, and Western Michigan, for example, are included. UM-Ann Arbor, however, is not included in MeLCat. You request the book and have it delivered to the Mardigian Library (usually within 5 days).
  • Search the UM-Ann Arbor and UM-Flint catalog
UM-Dearborn students, faculty, and staff can use their MCard (UM photo ID card) to check out books from the Thompson Library at UM-Flint as well as most UM-Ann Arbor libraries, after registering at the library's circulation desk.
Note: Books generally come faster through MeLCat than through Interlibrary Loan.
