Recommended Citation Tools

The following are recommended citation management software tools, both free and subscription based.

  • Zotero:  This is free and open source software but requires a download to run (Windows, MacOS, or Linux).  Link to it here:  https://www.zotero.org/
    • If you don't have the ability to run Zotero software on your device and prefer a web-based option, you might also consider ZoteroBib, which helps you build a bibliography instantly from any computer or device, without creating an account or installing any software. https://zbib.org/
  • Mendeley: Mendeley has both a free and fee version. Link to it here: https://mendeley.com
  • EndNote:  Also free and fee version.  The limited free version is through the library's subscription to Web of Science.  You can also purchase (at a discount) the full version from the UM Computer Showcase.
