PADM 560: Human Resources in Public & Nonprofit Administration

This guide supports student research assignments associated with the PADM 560 course.

Cite Sources and Avoid Plagiarism

Cite Sources

Whenever you use someone’s words or ideas to support your own writing assignment, you need to give credit back to the original source. You will do this by using two different types of citations:

  • In-text (scattered throughout your paper)
  • References (listed at the end of your paper)

Reminder: Each in-text citation should also appear as a source in your references list. Conversely, each reference should refer back to an in-text citation.

Common citation styles used in research papers and dissertations include MLA Style and APA Style.

Use the Purdue University OWL (Online Writing Lab) website for guidance on using both styles.

Avoid Plagiarism

Concerns, procedures, and consequences of plagiarism are outlined in the University of Michigan Dearborn’s Statement of Academic Integrity. Each student has the responsibility to understand when citing another person’s work or ideas becomes necessary.
