CECS Research Funding and Grants Guide

Pivot

Location: On & Off Campus (Find it in the Mardigian Library database list)

Note: Access to personalized features requires personal registration and login.

A directory of researchers and research funding opportunities that combines:

  • COS Funding Opportunities: with over 400,000 funding opportunities worth an estimated $33 billion.
  • COS Scholar Universe: 3 million profiles of scholars world wide
    • Pivot compiles researcher profiles unique to an organization (such as University of Michigan-Dearborn) and matches them to relevant current funding opportunities. So, UM-Dearborn users can search for a funding opportunity and instantly view matching faculty from inside or outside UM-Dearborn. Or, a search for a given scholar will link to matching funding opportunities.

Connecting to campus databases:

  • On campus: If you are on campus using a networked computer in the library or a computer lab, you may  be asked to log in with your uniqname and password.
  • On campus (wireless network) or off campus: For off-campus access to library resources, you will need your 8 digit UMID (found on your MCard), last name, and Library PIN (see instructions in the box below to create a pin).

Library PIN setup

Create a library PIN

  1. Go to My Library Account (located on the Mardigian Library website).
  2. Select whether you are "UM-Dearborn Student, Faculty, Staff, or Alumni" or a "Guest Borrower."
    • For "UM-Dearborn Student, Faculty, Staff, or Alumni" - enter your last name and your 8-digit UMID.
    • For "Guest Borrower" - enter your last name and 14-digit barcode.
    • For both options above, leave the PIN blank (you will create it later).
  3. Click the "Log in" button. This will not actually log you in yet; you will still need to create your PIN.
  4. The page will refresh, and you will need to re-enter your last name and UMID or barcode. This time, however, the form will include two PIN boxes so you can create and verify your new PIN. Your PIN must be at least characters long and can include letters and numbers.
  5. When you click the "Log In" button the second time, you should be taken to your library account.

Changing your PIN

  1. Log in to My Library Account with your current PIN.
  2. The box in your patron record has a link to "Modify your PIN." Select the link and follow the instructions in the pop-up window.
