ESCI 572 - Environmental Communications

Introduction

It takes time for a topic to be studied and written about in a scientific journal — and even longer to be included in a book. If your topic is that new, you will be getting most of your information from newspaper and magazine articles. Below are some resources that can help you find information about current topics.

E&E News

One of the best sources for current news about the environment, energy, and government policy is E&E News. It consists of:

  • Climatewire — daily coverage of the debate about climate policy and its effects on business, the environment, and society
  • E&E Daily — tracks legislative action on environmental, energy, and natural resources issues
  • Energywire — focuses on the business and political issues surrounding the unconventional energy industry
  • Greenwire — reports on national environmental, energy, and natural resources issues
  • E&E News PM — late-breaking new from Capitol Hill, including schedule changes, markup and floor vote results, new bills and amendments, and insight into emerging political issues

Newspapers

The Mardigian Library provides access to hundreds of newspapers:

  • Access to The New York Times and Wall Street Journal requires you to create a personal account with your U-M email address
  • Detroit Free Press and The Detroit News are available online.
  • You can access many national and international newspapers online.

See the News & Newspaper guide for more information.
