How do I create links to journal articles, streaming videos, and ebooks that will work off-campus?
Your Canvas links to journal articles, ebooks, and streaming videos need to include UMD library authentication in the URL for them to be accessible off-campus (students will be prompted to login with their UM-Dearborn uniquename and their Kerberos password - see Online Library Access page for more info).
Go to the Off-Campus Link Tool page on the library website and use the URL Converter to add UM-Dearborn library authentication to your links:
- Search the web page of the journal article, video, or e-book for a stable link
- If you can't find a stable link, copy the URL in your browser's address bar
- Paste the stable link in the URL Converter Tool and click Convert link
How do I create links to databases that will work off-campus?
- If you are on campus and copy the link to a library database, paste the database URL in the box above and click Convert link
- If you are off campus, just copy and paste the link; you don't need to use the Link Converter for these.
