A guide that covers using the library's search engine, ScienceDirect, Google Scholar, and SciFinder.

Access to the Library's Online Resources

Off-Campus Access

When you are off-campus, for best results, the Mardigian Library recommends that UM-Dearborn users use the campus VPN (Virtual Private Network) in order to access library resources.

  • Go to the ITS VPN page to find installation Instructions for your device.
  • Problems installing or using the VPN? Go to the ITS VPN Problem page or contact the ITS Service Desk

On-Campus Access

There are three Wi-Fi networks on the UM-Dearborn campus. Make sure you're connected to the MWireless network. It is the only one that allows you to connect to online library resources without looking like you're off-campus. Follow the steps on the ITS Get Connected page to connect to the MWireless network. If you have any problems connecting to the wireless network, see WiFi: Common Troubleshooting Tips.

Troubleshooting Library Access Problems

You are connected to the VPN or MWireless, but are having or problems accessing the library's databases, e-journals, e-books, or streaming videos?
