Formatting Your Thesis with Microsoft Word

This guide includes video tutorials designed to help you get most of the formatting of your thesis correct the first time. Using these videos to format your thesis will save a lot of time when it comes to having your format checked.

Rotated (landscape) pages

Sometimes a table or figure is too small when inserted on a 6½-inch wide portrait oriented page. The solution may be to rotate the page (change the orientation to landscape) so that you have a 10-inch wide page to work with. The video below demonstrates how to create a landscape page, place the page number appropriately, and change settings so that automatic page numbering isn't confused.

If all you need to know is how to change the page number so that it properly displays on a rotated page, skip to 7:50.
