Brief Overview of APA Citations

For this course, you will need to use APA citations. Citing your sources accurately and completely is essential for avoiding plagiarism and allowing others to follow along with your work. When you use someone else's words or ideas, you should create both an in-text citation within the body of your paper and a references list citation at the end of your paper. 

There are a number of resources available to help in creating your citations. Two good sources include: 

Autogenerating Citations

Many databases allow you to autogenerate a citation, which can save time and make it easier to keep track of the articles you've found. However, always make sure to double check these autogenerated citations, since they can sometimes have formatting mistakes or are missing information. 

Below are instructions on how you can locate the autogenerated citation in the Business Source Complete database. From the article page, click on the "cite" icon under tools: 

 

Then, copy the citation formatted in APA style and paste it into your document:

Confirm the accuracy of your citation by cross-referencing it with the official APA style guide or example in the Purdue OWL. Make any necessary corrections.
