Not sure where to start?

Hi, I am Amy Seipke, your Engineering, Computer Science, and Mathematics Librarian.

Supporting your research IS my job. If please reach out if you need any help at any step in your research process.

As of right now, I am working both in-person and remotely. So if you are in the library stop by the LRC (Library Research Center) and see if I, or any of my wonderful colleagues are available to direct you on your research journey. If you are remote or need some in-depth help please set up an appointment for a Zoom meeting with me by clicking the "Email Me" button under my photo and letting me know some times when you are available.

If you are looking for a Course Guide for a particular class in Engineering, Computer Science or Mathematics use THIS LINK

Log-in to Library Resources

  • On campus (Wired Ethernet): If you are on campus using a computer with a wired connection, you will be asked to log in with your uniqname and password and then to use the two-factor authentication.
  • On campus (Wireless Network) or Off Campus: For off-campus or wireless access to library electronic resources you will need to first install and login to the VPN (described below). Then you can click on the link you would like to open which will prompt you to enter your uniqname and password and then use the two-factor authentication.
  • VPN (Virtual Private Network)

Using UM-Dearborn Resources on Your Machine

There are many ways for you to access the technology resources available to you as a student at UM-Dearborn. THIS LINK provides information on how to remotely connect into several of the computer labs on campus. This will allow you to use the ELB-2026 computer lab remotely and therefore access AutoCAD and MATH CAD from your personal device.

If you need any other computer or software help, contact ITS through their service desk link HERE.

Getting Started on Your Own

  • Quality research takes time. The earlier you select your topic and start your search the more successful you will be!
  • Use the documents at the end of this box to help you decide:
    • What steps do you need to make sure you complete?
    • Which type of resource will be most beneficial to you right now?
    • What search terms should you use?
    • How can you use limiters to get only the results you can use?
    • Is the resource you have found a good source of information?
  • Begin your research using the library's webpage: http://library.umd.umich.edu or use the search box below. Limit your search to just the type of materials you want to see using the drop down menu on the right side (or just leave it set to "everything" to get an overwhelming idea of all the things that you can access from here). Use the advanced search once you have a good idea of the information available on your topic to limit the results to those which will best fit your particular need.
  • Use the tabs in the Side Navigation Bar to see some materials and resources that I thought would be valuable for your field.
