About PubMed

PubMed comprises over 26 million citations for biomedical literature from MEDLINE, life science journals, and online books. PubMed citations and abstracts include the fields of biomedicine and health, covering portions of the life sciences, behavioral sciences, chemical sciences, and bioengineering. PubMed also provides access to additional relevant web sites and links to the other NCBI molecular biology resources.

How to look use MeSH terms to build a PubMed search

Some handy MeSH terms for Child Life Specialists

  • While there is currently no MeSH term for Child Life Specialists, try using "Child Life" as a keyword. 

 

  • To find Play Therapy methods, search: "Play Therapy/methods"[Mesh] . This is just one sub-category of "Sensory Art Therapies/methods"[Mesh] which also includes music and art therapies, among others.

 

  • Infant, Child, and Adolescent all have MeSH terms with optional subheadings. Alternatively, you can use the filter tool on the PubMed sidebar (you may need to click on 'Show additional filters' and choose 'Ages'). 
    • "Infant, Newborn"[Mesh] for children in the first 28 days after birth
    • "Infant"[Mesh] for children aged 1 to 23 months
    • "Child, Preschool"[Mesh] for children aged 2-5 years
    • "Child"[Mesh] for children aged 6-12 years
    • "Adolescent"[Mesh] for children aged 13-18 years
