SEMCOG is a regional planning partnership of governmental units serving 4.8 million people in the seven-county region of Southeast Michigan striving to enhance the region's quality of life.

Data Driven Detroit houses a comprehensive data system that includes current and historic demographic, socioeconomic, educational, environmental, and other indicators. This data system allows analysts to illustrate complex relationships by combining different datasets to reveal the true stories of our regions, cities and blocks.

The City of Detroit has launched its Open Data Portal initiative in order to increase public access to valuable data and information concerning City government operations and service delivery. This tool exists to enable opportunity by reducing barriers to access the public data and information and promoting trust, transparency, and accountability between City agencies and the people we serve. This data is freely available in formats that are understandable to humans, can be processed by software and machines, and formatted according to national technical standards to facilitate visibility and reuse of published data.

This dashboard brings to life the data from DFC’s The State of Economic Equity in Detroit report so that our shared vision and our collective progress towards achieving economic equity can be tracked. The dashboard includes data for 22 indicators across 6 focus areas plus additional data on the regional economy for context. These key economic equity indicators can be examined over time and through a geographic and racial equity lens.

The National Equity Atlas draws its data from a unique regional equity indicators database developed and maintained by PolicyLink and ERI. Our database has several defining attributes: it incorporates measures of well-being and racial gaps; it provides several decades of data for cities, counties, and metropolitan regions that are geographically consistent over time; and it includes data disaggregated by race/ethnicity, gender, nativity, and income to the maximum extent possible.
