A guide for faculty in the College of Education, Health & Human Services about requesting research instruction and using library services.

Get help from Raya

I'll be available to help even when working remotely from home.

The best way to contact me is through email

You can also get assistance from the library by sending email to our Ask-A-Question service, which includes all of the Mardigian librarians as well as library staff, or by using our live Chat service, which is staffed by librarians from 10am to 4pm Monday through Friday.

I'll continue to update this guide with additional resources as needed; if you have requests, please let me know.

Troubleshooting access to library resources Off-Campus

FIRST, Here are the instructions for access off-campus:

When you are off campus, you will be prompted to log in to the library's databases with your last name,  your 8-digit UMID, and your library PIN. You can create and change your library PIN online by following these steps:

  1. Click on the My Library Account link
  2. Select UM-Dearborn Student, Faculty, Staff, or Alumni
  3. Enter your last name and your 8-digit UMID
  4. Leave the PIN field blank
  5. Click the Log In button. This will not actually log you in yet; you will still need to create your PIN
  6. The page will refresh, and you will need to re-enter your last name and 8-digit UMID
  7. The form will include two PIN boxes: create your PIN in the first box and verify your new PIN in the second box
  8. When you click the Log In button the second time, your PIN will be created and you should be taken to your library account

IF YOU NEED TO RESET A PIN:

IF YOU SEE AN ERROR MESSAGE OR HAVE TROUBLE WITH A RESOURCE:

  • Send an email to Ask-a-question or use the chat service so that we can look into the issue.
  • Seeing a message that includes the following message "Forbidden: You don't have permission to access this resource" may indicate that you tried to access a resource using the UM-Ann Arbor link, because our authentication process is separate. Make sure to start on the Mardigian Library webpage and access resources through our links instead.

IF THE RESOURCE REQUIRES ON-CAMPUS USE:

  • You may need to use Virtual Private Network (VPN) in order to access the resource. Instructions for VPN will vary by operating system; contact ITS if you need assistance setting up your VPN.
